Deeply Devotional, Spiritual, Heart-Centered Yogi, Independently Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Reiki Healer, Writer, Adventurist, Global Citizen…. Dedicated to Making this World a More Peaceful Place.
I am dedicated to living life fearlessly and authentically. I strive to be a grounded free spirit that is always learning, growing, evolving; to live life as an adventure without any regrets. I am incredibly inspired and deeply commited to helping make this world a more loving, joyful, and peaceful place.
I grew up in New York but came out to the Midwest to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After graduating in 2001, I moved to Chicago. I spent 4 years in the corporate world and realized that an external focus on money, materialism, and consumerism does not bring genuine happiness or lasting peace. I began searching for a career that made my heart sing. I immersed myself in self-study, deepened devotion, and became dedicated to a yoga practice.
In 2005, I left the corporate world and made a career change. I moved from Chicago to Minneapolis to pursue a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). While in Minneapolis, I practiced yoga daily. On the yoga mat I experienced deep healing and expansion. In addition to counseling, I wanted to share the practice with others and began teaching yoga in 2008. In 2013, to deepen my skills in yoga and as a holistic therapist, I journeyed to the source, India. I planned to be in India for three months to complete a 500-hour yoga program and Reiki Master training but after connecting so deeply to India and all that it offers, I ended up staying for an additional six months. During those six I studied, traveled, immersed myself in meditation with Spiritual masters, and started a book with the focus/intention to be the most pure channel possible. I experienced major transformations, profound clarity, bliss, peace, creativity, and inspiration. The 9-months was eye and mind/heart opening, enlightening, personally and professionaly life-changing.
After 8+ years of teaching yoga and 12+ years of working in traditional therapy settings with families, couples, children, and individuals, I have merged the two worlds together focusing on integrating Western Psychology with Eastern Holistic Healing Therapies and Philosophy. My goal is for you to turn all potentiality into actuality, to discover and realise your sacredness and inner-divinity; to create, enjoy, and live an extraordinary life that is full of joy, peace, purpose, love, and free from any/all pain/suffering. After I arrived back to Chicago, I opened up a private therapy practice specializing in holistic healing workshops and therapy sessions for Individuals and Couples. Through my studies and experience, I discovered that Heart-Centered Tantra Meditations for Couples are a powerful, transformative, and effective tool to repair distressed relationships and enhance already happy and connected couples. Through Reiki sessions, I have witnessed how effective this modality is in naturally healing and restoring the body-mind back to harmony & balance. I have experienced that having traditional training in therapy & counseling has been an important skill in facilitating body-mind holistic healing modalities.
I deeply resonated with the East; the inward focus, the incredible breath-taking natural beauty, the ancient wisdom, the other spiritual and adventure travellers, and the powerful mirror, teacher, and healer that particularly India is. I created www.hanaberlinretreats.com with the intention to offer Spiritual retreats that provide an opportunity to immerse in healing, discovery, and ultimately inner-transformaion. My goal is to help inspire and empower everyone to courageously and authentically live a fulfilling, meaningful, healthy life without any regrets. As the complete embodiment of wisdom, kindness, unconditional love, grace, generosity, and unlimited compassion.
As a nature lover, I spend as much time possible outdoors meditating, hiking, biking, running, walking, camping, and traveling. I love learning, music, live concerts, oil painting, adventure, quiet moments, writing, simplicity, kirtan/chanting, reading, meeting new people, smiling, laughing. I strive to transcend all fears, comfort, familiarity, stay grounded, humble, and always grateful while reaching for the stars. I encourage you to do the same. I look forward to connecting! Hana
My guiding mantras:
“Every day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive. I have a precious human life. I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to Others; to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all human beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others. I am not going to get angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can.” – His Holiness 14th Dalai Lama
Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu. May all beings everywhere be happy and be free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to the happiness and to the freedom for all.
